Summer is here, the weather today is perfect and ready for the Fourth of July Holiday, which means pool parties, beaches and BBQ s. Hair can be a pain to manage after the pool or beach, here are 6 ways to better manage your hair for the water.

(1)    Wet your hair before getting into the pool or beach water. It minimizes the amount of chlorine or salt. Absorbing the fresh water first will leave little space for chlorine or salt to enter the hair.

 (2)  Adding a coat of oil will minimize penetration from water. The best product is coconut oil it has UV protection, it shields the hair shaft.

 (3)   Protective hairstyles to prevent tangling are flat twists, buns and bantu knots prevent tangle and chlorine and salt absorption.

 (4)  For after care, use clarifying or normalizing shampoo. It takes away chemical build up. Carols’ Daughter Clarifying Shampoo or UltraSwim Shampoo Chlorine Removal Replenishing Shampoo is great products to prevent dryness.

(5)  To restore hair nutrients with a deep conditioning masque, use Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque.
