Keep Your Hair in Shape + Break Out a Good Sweat

Are you stuck with a certain style because you work out often? Working out with natural hair can be tricky.  You can maintain your styles and exercise with these tips, because it is important to stay fit year round. It is also important that your hair is taken care of, and looks presentable .

Have a Schedule      Plan! Plan your work outs. Schedule your workouts. Make time. If you know you have things to do after your work out make sure you have time to tend to your hair for a presentable look.
Routine is good for your hair, as well as your diet. Regular exercise needs proper nutrition. Without the proper nutrients your hair and scalp can become dry, brittle, and unhealthy looking.

Protect from the Sweat     If you have longer natural hair, place it in high bun. If it isn't long enough to pull back twist, or braids are recommended.  When your style is selected, wrap your edges with silk scarf or head band. In March, Nicole Ari Parker released Save Your Do Gymwrap, which absorbs the sweat and keeps you looking fashionable while working out.

Cooling and Drying
Allow your hair to dry after working out and removing that scarf. That means take that shower and do your make up before removing the silk scarf. Use a blow dryer if you are in a rush, but it is better for your hair to dry naturally for the sake of your scalp and to avoid frizziness.  Make sure it is thoroughly dry!

The climate of your cool off and actual work out plays a part in how your sweat will effect your do. It is best to manage the time of day you work out. Midday work outs will probably develop the most sweat, opt for indoor and earlier workouts if possible. If you enjoy outdoor workouts also try for earlier in the day.

Stay fit and don't worry about your hair while doing it! Remember, don't
not work out because you cant sweat your style out!

The Do's & Don'ts of Hair Extensions

1.      Before installing your extensions make sure that your own hair is in the best condition – strong, healthy and moisturized. Deep condition before your sew-in so it can stay healthy and grow.

2.      Buy QUALITY hair. You get what you pay for. We have all seen it - cheap hair is stiff and dry and stays in one place. If you buy great quality you can reuse it over and over – saving you money and it will look more natural.

3.      NO GLUE. Yes, it’s cheaper and faster, but in the long run you’re damaging your hair and you can’t reuse it.

4.      Wigs are great alternatives, versatile and easy. They come off everyday so you can allow hair to breathe at night.

5.   No overload on product. Serums and shines can actually add weight. With quality hair, you don’t need a lot of product.

6.      The fuller and longer your hair, the heavier it will be. The tension can cause hairline breakage.

7.      Mix & Match with textures, it can add a great contrast to your hair.

8.      CUSTOMIZE, CUSTOMIZE, CUSTOMIZE! Have fun with your hair, add color, spice it up with a blunt cut, layer - do it all.

9.      Don’t use a lot of heat on your hair. Human hair extensions can develop split ends. Use roller or heat-free techniques.
